The Institution is recognized by the National Board of Examination to train students towards Diplomate National Board Exams in General Medicine. Two students can be taken every year in each specialty for a 3 year in service training programme. Regular Seminars, Journal Club meetings and ward discussions are held. NBE relayed interactive CME Sessions via satellite and internet access is available to the students in addition to good library facilities. Students are encouraged to take part in local and national conferences and to present papers.
From January 2021, the counseling for DNB has been centralized and the candidates are allotted to this institution by the NBE (National Board of Examinations).

Emergency medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention for patients of all ages. It is a matrix of all specialties and super-specialties. Patients in Emergency Department are unscheduled and undifferentiated. Emergency medicine physicians carry out the immediate assessment and treatment of patients with serious and life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The nature of work in the Emergency Department requires Emergency Medicine Physicians to maintain an extremely broad range of clinical skills and knowledge.
The “Society for Emergency Medicine, India” (SEMI) was established in 1999. It is a full member of the “International Federation of Emergency Medicine” (IFEM). SEMI is the oldest and strongest body, which has identified the importance of Emergency Medicine as a specialty in the country. SEMI is continuously working on Training, Education, Recognition, Research and Service regards to the emergency medicine specialty.
